As of the 1st of April, 2018, PrEP is listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). This means that you can now attend any pharmacy in Australia with your PrEP script to purchase PrEP. This does require Medicare.

For most people, PBS cost will be $39.50/month.
For people with a concession card, PBS cost will be $6.40/month.

Some pharmacies may keep PrEP in stock, and some may need to order in the medication once you provide your prescription, which could take 1-2 days.

While any doctor or general practitioner (GP) can prescribe PrEP, you may be more comfortable discussing your needs with a GP who is experienced in prescribing PrEP. This is a list of doctors and services that we know are experienced at prescribing PrEP.

If you choose to see a doctor who is unfamiliar with prescribing PrEP, they can access information about prescribing PrEP from the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM)
