HIV Serology

HIV (or Human Immunodeficiency Virus) can be sexually transmitted through condomless anal sex, oral sex and intravenous drug use.  A blood test is taken to understand your HIV status. Results from the blood test indicate your HIV status from six weeks prior.

If you believe you have been exposed to HIV, call one of our nurses (on 9227 0734 and dial 1 to speak to the nurses) and explain your situation. They will triage you appropriately and book you in for a Window Period Screen.

If you believe you have been potentially exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours, you may be eligible for PEP (or Post-Exposure Prophylaxis). Please call PEP Hotline on 1300 767 161 or check out their website  to explore your options.
