Gonorrhoea Testing

Gonorrhoea is a bacterial sexually transmitted infection that can be transmitted through all types of sex, including kissing, rimming and fingering. Most men do not exhibit any symptoms, but are still at risk of transmitting gonorrhoea through sex. We recommend testing for gonorrhoea on a regular basis if you are actively having sex with men. Gonorrhoea can be present in the back of your throat, on your penis or in your rectum, and it can be in one site and not the other. At M Clinic we test for gonorrhoea with a throat swab, rectal swab and first-void urine sample. It is important not to urinate within 1 hour of your appointment.

If you believe you have been exposed to gonorrhoea, or if you are exhibiting symptoms, call one of our nurses (on 9227 0734 and dial 1 to speak to the nurses) and they can triage you appropriately.

If your results come back positive for gonorrhoea, it can be treated at the M Clinic. We have slots available every day so that you can be seen promptly for treatment.
